Having a Spot of Bother

Posted: 2013-05-03 16:50:00 Have you ever woken up to a spot that’s screaming at you to pop??!! Then read on for some natural zit zappers you can carry out from the safety of your own home......Honey, honey!Honey is one of the top ingredients in DIY facial masks as it has great moisturising properties but it is also high in antibacterial agents which will bust that blemish. Just dab a pea-size amount of unprocessed honey onto the area and leave for 15 minutes and rinse off. Vinegar & WaterThis helps balance the PH levels in the skin, reduce redness and inflammation of acne. Mix equal parts of purified water and vinegar (you can use white or apple cider vinegar), dab a cotton ball in the mixture, apply to the blemish and rinse after 10 minutes.Tea Tree Oil Treating the spot on its own is great but ...

Pucker Up!

Posted: 2013-03-12 00:00:00 Have you ever wished for lips like Marilyn, Angelina or Scarlett??? You are not alone! Of course, you can always opt for fillers and other invasive cosmetic treatments but here are a few harmless tips and a little more natural (and easier on the purse strings!)PlumperOne of the easiest ways to plump up thin lips is to use a lip plumper. There are lots of different brands available to suit all budgets. They work by irritating the skin and making it swell up, but if they sting too much then they are best avoided. LinerBe subtle (and careful) when lining your lips. Using your lip pencil, draw just outside your natural lip line in light feathery strokes. This will give you that little bit extra fullness without looking like a clown. MoisturiseYour skin needs to be moisturised in orde ...

Eye, Eye!

Posted: 2013-02-20 10:00:00 If you’ve ever wondered how to care for skin around your eyes, then look no further for healthier & happier skin. The skin around our eye area is not only the thinnest skin on your face, but it’s also the most sensitive and driest. It’s the first place that shows signs of aging. Cleanse Gently........We’re often reminded to use our ring fingers when applying eye cream to be gentle and the same logic applies to cleansing. If you’re using an eye makeup remover, don’t tug or rub back and forth. Apply the eye makeup remover on a cotton pad and lightly set it on the eyelid. Do this so that it has a chance to work its way through the products and then gently swipe off.Moisturise with an EYE Cream.......Even though it might seem like a good idea t ...

SPF in Winter

Posted: 2013-02-05 10:00:00 Many people don't realise but you still need to wear SPF on your face in Winter. UVA is responsible for most of the aging process of the skin as it causes damage to the integral proteins that give the skin its strength, elasticity and plumpness. Regardless of the time of the day or season, UVA is present and can penetrate cloud cover. To protect the skin, sunscreens should be worn everyday. Sunscreen is the best anti-aging product you can invest in, we recommend SPF 30-50.  The difference between straight-up sunscreen or a tinted moisturiser enriched with SPF is an individual preference, depending on your skin type but the most important thing is that you have it on. So for any product you buy in the future think SPF.......Sun Protection Factor or Skin Plump and Flawless! He ...

You don’t have to be a celebrity to look like one!

Posted: 2012-11-20 18:00:00 I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have my own personal hairdresser and make-up artist. I wouldn’t be too greedy and have them by my side 24/7 but maybe just an hour or two each morning and I’d be happy with that! Ah but alas, reality dictates that my inner celeb needs to DIY and here are a few tips I have picked up along the way.  Glowing SkinApart from trying very hard to up the ante on: water water water, green leafy veg, and not too many choccie delights, I love using a facial oil at night-time to penetrate to the deeper layers of my skin and let it do all the work while I sleep.  There are a number of really good ones on the market but my favourite is USPA Regenerative Elixir, for that rehydrated, rejuvenated feel and for added sparkle ...

Is your Body Beach Ready?

Posted: 2012-07-20 15:00:00 I believe half the fun of going on holidays is the excitement in the lead up and having an excuse to get all sorts of treatments. Probably the most beneficial time of the year to get a body scrub is now, 1-2 weeks prior to hitting the sun. Having a good scrub in a spa or salon allows a much deeper and healthier glowing tan. An intense body exfoliation treatment aids desquamation, lifting the dead skin cells of the surface allowing new and more tan cells to form on the skin. Also a moisturizing treatment can be advisable after this for example a milk nourishing lotion or a hot oil. Yummy :)Next and most importantly in pre-holiday treatments is without a doubt, the dreaded BIKINI WAX. The waxing should always be done after the scrub and only a few days prior to the sun.Now I am her ...

Summer has Arrived!

Posted: 2012-06-06 00:00:00 It’s that time of year when we get to bare a bit more skin than usual. If you're summer plans involve a bit of jet setting or keeping it local, always remember to apply the same skin care precautions at home and abroad.  We are all well aware of the steps we have to take to keep our skin safe in the sun.  The important part is to carry them out!Everyone who spends time outdoors should be aware of the harmful UV rays.  It could be as simple as hanging up a load washing in the garden to sunning yourself on a tropical beach. You can easily find a happy medium when it comes to dealing with the effects of UV rays.  The key is to be consistent.  Our bodies need the sun to help produce Vitamin D which is important for bone health, immune function and blood ...
